1. Who We Are

GeoWhisper is a location-triggered messaging application developed and operated by GeoWhisper LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Deschutes County, Oregon, USA. You can reach us at hello@geowhisper.app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to operate GeoWhisper:

• Account information — Your name, email address, and phone number when you create an account
• Messages and media — The content of GeoWhispers, GeoTasks, and Group Whispers you send, including any photos attached to replies
• Location data — GPS coordinates used to trigger message delivery when you arrive at a pinned location. Location is monitored in the background using iOS region monitoring only — we do not continuously track your precise location
• Device information — Your device type, iOS version, and push notification token so we can deliver notifications to your device
• Usage data — Basic app activity such as messages sent and received, used to improve the app experience
• Crash reports — Anonymous error logs collected via Sentry to identify and fix bugs

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Deliver location-triggered messages to the correct recipient at the right location
• Send push notifications when a message is delivered, read, or replied to
• Match your contacts with other GeoWhisper users by phone number
• Diagnose crashes and fix bugs to improve app reliability
• Provide customer support when you contact us

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

4. Location Data

GeoWhisper requires location access to function. Here is exactly how we use it:

• We use iOS region monitoring (geofencing) to detect when you arrive at a pinned location
• We do not continuously track or log your GPS coordinates
• Your location is never shared with other users — only the sender of a message is notified that you arrived at their pinned location
• Background location access is required for messages to deliver when the app is closed. You can revoke this permission in iOS Settings at any time, which will prevent location-triggered delivery
• We do not store a history of your location movements

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

• With the message sender — When you arrive at a pinned location and a message is triggered, the sender is notified that you arrived
• Service providers — We use Supabase for database and authentication, Expo for push notifications, and Sentry for crash reporting. These providers process data only as needed to deliver our service
• Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own messages and account data. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.

Messages remain stored until you delete them or delete your account. We do not have access to the content of your messages for any purpose other than delivering them.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Delete your account and all associated data directly within the app via Settings → Account Info → Delete Account
• Request account deletion by emailing hello@geowhisper.app with the subject line "Delete My Account" — we will process your request within 30 days
• Revoke location permissions at any time in iOS Settings
• Disable push notifications at any time in iOS Settings
• Contact us with any privacy concerns at hello@geowhisper.app

8. Children's Privacy

GeoWhisper is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@geowhisper.app and we will delete it promptly.

9. Third-Party Services

GeoWhisper uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — Database and authentication — supabase.com/privacy
• Expo — Push notification delivery — expo.dev/privacy
• Sentry — Crash reporting — sentry.io/privacy
• Apple — iOS platform and App Store — apple.com/privacy
• Google — Places API for location search — policies.google.com/privacy

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of GeoWhisper after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last updated.
